Tour in Hainan
- Hainan Island, China's second largest island, is 30 km off its southern
coast. It became China's 31st province in 1988. It is on the same latitude
as southern Cuba. In ancient times, disfavored officials were exiled here
and they had to live a hard life. Today, the province is being developed
as a very special economic zone with flexibility and openness in
developing foreign trade. Thousands of ambitious business men, technicians
and engineers rush to this island from inland to help its development.
Its capital city, Haikou, is pleasant. And visitors can enjoy the beaches
at Sanya. A large percentage of the population are tribal minorities.
Many still wear their distinctive, beautiful dress. At Sanya, one can
visit a pearl farm, and Ends of the Earth.
